Telltale Games has confirmed its popular The Walking Dead series of games will be returning for a third season. The developer hasn’t yet revealed when the next series of games will be released but it will happen at some point in the future.
Telltale also didn’t reveal any details for the upcoming installments, it refused to confirm or deny whether users will continue to play as the main character Clementine.
The Walking Dead games are a spin-off from the zombie based comic series, which has since been adapted for television, and follow Clementine, a young girl in a zombie-filled post-apocalyptic world.
Each season of The Walking Dead has been split into five episodes released a couple of weeks apart and coming in at around 2-4 hours of gameplay each. The first season won multiple game of the year awards and it returned this year for the second season. Episode 4 is available now and it’s expected the final part of this series will be released in the coming weeks.
So far, all the titles have been available on both iOS and Android devices but it’s not yet clear if the third season will be available. There’s no reason to think it won’t though, although it’s likely Android users will have to wait a little while longer from past experiences.
Telltale has a lot on its plate right now, the company has confirmed it is working on two exciting adaptions of other franchises as well as another of The Walking Dead. Game of Thrones is getting the video game treatment as well as a new interpretation of the Borderlands franchise.
Each of these is expected before we see anymore of The Walking Dead so it’s likely we’ll have to wait until at least 2015 to see any more zombie adventures from Telltale Games.
It’s not the worst news in the world though, at least Telltale Games has some other projects to whet our appetites whilst waiting for season three.
