EE Android-Based Mobile Payments Hit London Buses

Contactless payment schemes are now available all over London’s travel network but now you can use your EE Android phone too

News

EE customers can now use their phone to board a bus in London. To be able to pay with your EE phone you’ll need to be a customer of the network, have set up the EE’s Cash On Tap app and have a compatible handset.

That means you’ll need NFC technology in your phone, although some handsets won't be supported at launch. Those include the HTC One M8 and the LG G3m, but EE has confirmed those will be compatible before the end of the year.

When paying with your phone it’ll work in a similar way to your Oyster card. Plus, the daily and weekly payment caps will be in place meaning you wont end up spending anymore money than usual.

Transport for London are pushing for more contactless payments on all areas of London’s travel network, EE’s Cash on Tap app will work on the London Underground, DLR and London Overground on September 16.
