Robin Williams To Be Immortalised In World Of Warcraft

Blizzard have confirmed Robin Williams will be immortalised in the popular online role playing game

News

Robin Williams’ death had a huge impact all over the world, with millions of people posting on social media sites their tributes to the Actor, including Barack Obama.

However one of the most moving tributes in the tech world was a petition on change.org to get the Actor memorialised in the game World of Warcraft as a character. The Actor was a huge fan of gaming in general, naming his daughter after the title character in The Legend Of Zelda video game series. Once Nintendo caught wind of that the company also got him to appear in an advert for the company alongside his daughter.

According to fans, “He often joked about his WoW addiction but also about the reactions he’d get from other gamers when he admits he plays the game. Because of his presence within our community, we the players of World of Warcraft are asking Blizzard to kindly create an NPC within the game that memorializes the actor/comedian.”

This was responded to on Twitter by Technical Games Designer at Blizzard, Chadd Nervigg, saying “Yes. We’re taking care of it.”

Williams will appear as a non-playing character within the game, cracking some of his best jokes for gamers to enjoy. Williams died at the age of 63, after a suspected suicide at his LA home on the morning of August 12.

Williams was a self confessed tech nerd appearing on stage at the Google I/O back in 2006 and speaking about the latest gadgets in various interviews. He appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show back in 2011 after the iPhone 4s launch and had the following to say about the new Siri feature.
