Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A Heading To Europe

An LTE-A edition of the Galaxy S5 is coming to Europe

Earlier in the year Samsung followed up its Galaxy S5 with the Galaxy S5 LTE-A edition, but it was an exclusive for the Korean market. Now, it seems, a European model is on the way as the SM-G901, which was recently spotted in GFXBench results.

The word comes via Sam Mobile, which claims to confirm this variant is an S5 LTE-A for Europe, though doesn’t cite sources. The GFXBench results show a full HD display instead of the South Korean model’s 2K screen. However, it does still have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor at 2.5GHz with an Adreno 420 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Storage is listed at 12GB, suggesting 16GB onboard with a chunk deducted for the software, and there’s a 16MP camera module on the back, plus a 2MP setup on the front.

It’s worth noting the Korean model also had 3GB of RAM, and was made of plastic – so this has nothing to do with the alleged Galaxy F rumoured to be on the way. That model is thought to be a full metal build but with a similar spec line-up.

Currently there is no indication when the Galaxy F or Galaxy S5 LTE-A may arrive. Samsung executives have recently said there will be two “major” handset releases by the end of the year, with one of those quite obviously being the Note 4 already scheduled for its usual place at the annual IFA conference in Berlin, Germany, this September. There’s plenty of speculation suggesting the Galaxy F might come along at the same time, but at this point we’re still not sure it’s even real. Where does the Galaxy S5 LTE-A fit into this? We’ll have to wait and see.
