Sony is holding a big press event on September 3, just before the IFA 2014 conference in Berlin. It’s thought we may catch the first glimpse of the Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones.
Rumours have also suggested Sony is working on another iteration of the Xperia Tablet. However, another report has today suggested there will also be a Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.
Techtastic found a user guide for Sony BSC10, a Bluetooth speaker designed by the company, that allows charging for a series of Xperia devices.
Inside the list of compatible devices comes the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. Industry sources have previously suggested Sony will release a smaller version of its tablet during 2014, but this is the closet thing we've had to a confirmation so far. The list doesn’t include a Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet that has lead some to believe Sony will miss the full size tablet and just release a smaller version.
The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet was only released in February and it’d make sense for the company to give it a rest this time around and focus on a smaller, equally-powerful slate.
Another report has suggested the Xperia Z3 Tablet will come with an 8in display. The same report suggests it’ll include a 1080p screen, a Snapdragon 801 chipset and 3GB of RAM.
All we can do now is wait until Sony’s press conference and see what the company has up its sleeve. There’s no confirmation the tablets will make an appearance, though; Sony may opt to keep the event solely about the Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones.
