Apple’s iPhone 5S has one of the best cameras we’ve seen on a smartphone in recent years. It doesn’t offer the ability to shoot 4K video that others do though, so one developer has figured out a way to create an app that would allow it.
The app was a success and now Apple has approved it on the App Store.
You can download it now for the iPhone 5S if you have 32GB or 64GB version and it’s running on iOS 7. The problem is you’ll also need £699.99 or $999.99 to spend as well. Vizzywig 4K is the name of the app but the developers haven’t currently made it clear why it costs so much.
We do know you can’t use it when you’re on iOS 8 though. If you’re planning to buy the app you can’t have iOS 8 on your phone as the new “Burst Mode” feature doesn’t meet the app requirements.
Vizzywig 4K uses a technique where it takes 24 photos per a second in 4K and stiches them all together to give the video effect. It also allows you to access and edit individual frames, that doesn’t work alongside the Burst Mode effects on iPhone with iOS 8 though.
The developers are currently working on getting around the iOS 8 problem in the very near future. Hopefully it’ll be ready soon after the general release of the new operating system.
You could spend near on £700 for this app, but you could get one of several handsets on the market for the same price including the Sony Xperia Z3, LG G3, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and even the OnePlus One.
All of it doesn’t really matter right now until we start to see 4K displays on a regular basis.
