Welcome to Feldl’s Teufelsrad (“The Devil’s Wheel”). Until October 5, visitors to Oktoberfest have the opportunity to experience one of Munich’s more bizarre spectacles. This family business has brought laughter to Oktoberfest crowds for more than 100 years. The challenge is open to all: while the wheel spins, participants fight centrifugal forces and hold on as the speed increases. Those who manage to stay then must dodge a giant swinging ball while onlookers cheer from the sides. The last person on the wheel wins the audience’s heart—and usually more hearty celebration with friends after regaining their balance.
