Android One devices to get Lollipop by January 2015

The Lollipop updates about the Lollipop update keep on coming. Earlier today, we covered how the HTC One M8 and M7 Google Play Editions would be getting the update starting Friday. Well, we have some more Lollipop news to share. It looks as though those users of the Android One devices, will be getting their Android Lollipop update starting in January 2015.

The update will come directly from Google via an over-the-air update, and will at the very least be available for all Dream Uno users within India. the announcement came directly from Prashant Bindal, CEO of Spice Mobility.

We plan to provide Lollipop in our Android One devices around January 2015 and the update will be available for all Dream Uno users in India.

There have not been any announcements regarding the Micromax A1 or the Karbonn Sprakle V. However, since the update is coming from Google, it can be expected for these devices to get the Lollipop around the same time. It’s definitely an interesting time in the world of Google, even for those using Android One devices. the kicker is the fact that while these devices are not manufactured by Google, the manufacturers must use hardware specified by Google.
