“I could not resist the temptation to give him a family and love,” says Corrado Trincali (@canarinocippo), remembering the first day he saw his canary Cippo, who was confined in a tiny cage at a local pet shop. Corrado, a student based in Bologna, Italy, says the curious Cippo now flies free around his small apartment, and all the photos he posts to his Instagram account are taken there. But these images aren’t meant to document Cippo’s life, but rather they are a way for Corrado to convey his own feelings. “I try to create an emotional diary— to convey my passions and express myself through Cippo.”
