Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPgeometry

Weekend Hashtag Project is a series featuring designated themes and hashtags chosen by Instagram’s Community Team. For a chance to be featured on the Instagram blog, follow @instagram and look for a post announcing the weekend’s project every Friday.

The goal this weekend is to take creative photos that feature geometric shapes and strong lines. Some tips to get you started:

• Try thinking of a single shape and looking for it as you go about your day. Once you train your eyes, you’ll start to see shapes all around you.


• As you shoot, keep the rule of thirds principle in mind when thinking about composing your image. Turn on your phone camera’s grid overlay and place your subjects along the lines or at their intersections.


• If the shapes that make up a scene aren’t immediately apparent, try a different point of view. Getting up close, moving further away or even shooting from above or below will help you get a different angle.

PROJECT RULES: Please add the #WHPgeometry hashtag only to photos taken over this weekend and only submit your own photographs to the project. Any tagged image taken over the weekend is eligible to be featured Monday morning.
