“I’m driven to show people the harsh realities,” says Pablo Unzueta (http://bit.ly/1sYeORm), a Los Angeles-based photographer who studies journalism at a local community college and works part time as a short order cook. “I just want to spotlight those who need more attention from the mainstream society.” The 20-year-old Chilean-American was introduced to photography by his grandmother. “She made her living as a wedding photographer, and whenever she could, my grandmother would travel to places like Ecuador, El Salvador and other parts of Central America documenting the immense poverty taking place,” he says. “My grandmother is an important influence. Those trips to her darkroom will never be forgotten.”
