“My main inspiration comes from my experience in Africa,” says graphic designer Neals Niat (@nealsniat). Born in Paris to Cameroonian parents, Neals moved with his family to Cameroon when he was seven years old, and lived there for eight years. “I remember spending time in the village, listening to old stories around the fire.”

Neals is currently studying architecture in Brussels, and he often uses his academic projects as vehicles for cultural expression. “I have been drawing since my childhood,” he says. “It was just a passion at first, and then I decided to develop this interest into something more concrete. When I started studying architecture, I felt the need to introduce my art into my architectural projects.” Neals says he often expresses his cultural experience using a monochromatic palette. “I want to transmit my cultural wealth through my work in a playful way,” he says.
