Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPlocalstory

Weekend Hashtag Project is a series featuring designated themes and hashtags chosen by Instagram’s Community Team. For a chance to be featured on the Instagram blog, follow @instagram and look for a post announcing the weekend’s project every Friday.

The goal this weekend is to take creative photos and videos of the moments happening all around you that you might normally overlook. Here are some tips to help you get started:

• Stay local. What interesting stories can you capture that are within walking distance of your house?


• Think about framing as you approach this project. Get close to focus attention on a particular person or object. Alternatively, shoot from farther away to share a scene with more environmental context.


• Try to capture stories as they happen. Resist staged shots in favor of natural, candid moments.


• Write a descriptive caption that provides more information on the photo or video telling your local story.

PROJECT RULES: Please add the #WHPlocalstory hashtag only to photos taken over this weekend and only submit your own photographs to the project. Any tagged image taken over the weekend is eligible to be featured Monday morning.
