“#Hellomynameis John Lemuel Goden (@lemm.g). I am 15 years old and from the Philippines. My story is not out of the ordinary. I draw inspiration from everyday scenes I see in my community. I go to school, study, go home and do household chores — that’s basically my life.

I like random things. Anything that catches my eye, I take a photo of it. For instance, if I go to school and see a happy kid playing, I make that the subject of my photo. To me, the child’s moving body is a shape, and the happiness in her face is a vivid pop of color. It may be a little weird and hard to understand, but I see things that way.

I’m greatly inspired by local people and their stories. I like to express their stories in pictures and tell the world about it. That way, other people can also draw inspiration from them. I’m also inspired by the little things around me. Maybe it’s artwork hanging on a wall, a tree, the sun or anything. They may look like nothing to some people, but they possess beauty. We just have to find it within them.

I want people to know that I’m a dreamer like everyone else. Never stop dreaming because one day, you’ll get there. And photos are what captures my dreams.”
