Expressing #whatmyhandsdoing with @ponypork

Romo Jack (@ponypork) describes himself as a “creative worker” who explores new ways of expressing himself and devising new forms of art. In one of his projects called #whatmyhandsdoing, he captures scenes of his hands engaging in various activities — including painting, cooking, playing with board games and catching rainbows. “Just like how my eyes are always seeing from the time I wake up from bed to the time I fall back asleep, my hands are also doing something every second,” says the 22-year-old from Jakarta, Indonesia. “There might be thousands, even millions of things our hands have got to do.”
Romo says that the challenge in creating these images is not so much in arranging the objects, but rather in finding ways to visualize his ideas. When he’s stuck with a concept, he turns to the streets and markets for inspiration. “I’m a sucker when it comes to secondhand items,” he says. “I believe they can be recreated into something more valuable, and the important thing is to collect them first.” Romo says he didn’t labor over how his photo series would take shape — he just visualized it and made it happen. “I found out that you don’t need to spend too much time just imagining about a concept, which might lead you to do nothing in the end. The more important thing is to take a look around us and just do it!”
