Love Letter to Dartmoor, 365 days a year

Tired of just telling her distant friends about her gorgeous new surroundings in the remote wilderness of Dartmoor, England, Jo Bradford (@greenislandstudios) decided to show them, in the best way she knew how. A professional photographer and mother of two, Jo launched “A Love Letter to Dartmoor,” a year long daily photo series documenting seasonal views of the national park’s landscape in south Devon, where she now lives. “People have an impression of it being quite bleak and unwelcoming, but actually it’s stunningly beautiful,” says Jo, who walks every day in the moors to take photos, with her two German pointers, baby and toddler in tow. “I’ve seen beautiful rare moths, rivers trickling through forest and carpets of bluebells,” she says. “Quite often, a herd of wild ponies will turn up and start lapping at the water while I’m sitting there watching the sunset.” One night, near a pond, Jo remembers a mother with young foals appeared up out of the valley right by where she was sitting. “The light played across the water and it was beautiful and we all sat there in silence.”
