“I got my first camera when I graduated high school. I was shooting recaps around Chicago at all the little 200-capacity shows. At the time I had no idea what I was doing. I just wanted to get into something new.” —Phil Shaw (@p.hil), music photographer. In the two years since Phil first started taking pictures, he has hustled his way up the industry ladder, snapping both live and intimate backstage pics of everyone from Vic Mensa to Jhene Aiko to J. Cole. This year, he is looking to go even bigger. As the 21-year-old tells @music, “I am just trying to live my life as best I can, the way I want to.”
