Jessica Washick’s Passion for Nail Art Emerged from a Breakup

This post is part of Instagram’s #tinycanvas series that celebrates nail artists and the miniature works of art they create. To see more of Jessica’s nail art, follow @jessicawashick on Instagram.

“You don’t need a man. You need a manicure.” —the words Jessica Washick (@jessicawashick) loves to say when she makes a #tinycanvas out of a client’s nails. “It transcends hair texture, body type and skin color,” the nail artist from Portland, Oregon, says. “They’re something you can count on to amplify your mood or outfit — the same way you rely on a great bag or pair of shoes to pull your whole look together.” The former accessory designer started creating nail art as a form of therapy after breaking up with a long-term boyfriend. “Nail art creates a club that brings people together in a positive way.”
