The ‘Unbreakable Determination’ of Photographer and Marine Corps Veteran Anthony Geathers

Since grade school, Anthony Geathers (@anthonybgeathers) dreamed of becoming a United States Marine to help provide for his mother and brothers. The 26-year-old Brooklyn, New York, native deployed to Afghanistan twice. “I learned a lot about myself as a man and as a warrior,” Anthony says. “The same Marine Corps values I learned between boot camp and in the Fleet Marine Force — unbreakable determination, controlled aggression and a will to succeed — are things I apply in my growing career as a photographer.” Anthony found his niche sharing stories of athletes, particularly those in combat sports. “I get intimate with the fighters’ lives in their training camps, at home with their families and friends, backstage preparing for fights, the actual bout, their victories and defeats and the spectacle of the whole experience,” he says.
