Photojournalist Ley Uwera (@leyuwera) has her #EyesOn the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Born in the eastern city of Goma, Ley graduated from university with a journalism degree, then worked as a radio reporter before focusing full time on photography. “I see photography as a good means of getting out messages,” the 26-year-old says. As a contributor to @everydayafrica, Ley shows “the other face of the DRC,” like this image from a job-training program that helps teenagers and mothers find work. She hopes her work shifts the perception of poverty in her country: “I would love to put out an image of Congo portraying hopes for the country’s bright future.”
