At the 2012 London Olympics, British boxer Nicola Adams (@nicolaadamsmbe) made history as the first-ever woman to win an Olympic title for boxing. “I am hoping to inspire more women to get into boxing,” the gold-medal winner, currently competing in Rio, says. “I hope I can be a role model for other females to get involved and further prove that it is possible for women to take part and succeed in the sport.” Nicola constantly breaks new ground for her sport and her country; she credits her trailblazing courage to her mother’s perseverance. “I’ve watched my mum work incredibly hard her whole life, and it inspired me that you can do anything you want — as long as you put your mind to it,” she says. “I’ve always just wanted to win. I don’t think about losing until it happens.”
