Pen, Pencil and Proportions with Beth Fraser

This story is part of our new series #FashionIllustrated, stories of artists from around the world who are using their imaginations to bring style to life.

People and the clothes they wear are Beth Fraser’s (@befraser) inspiration to exaggerate and play. “I find the human body fascinating because there’s so much diversity,” says Beth, a 23-year-old fashion illustrator who lives in London. “Drawing allows even more diversity with the ability to elongate and minimize certain areas.” Not satisfied with just pen and pencil, Beth embellishes her illustrations with paper. She keeps a huge pile of scrap paper on her desk left over from other drawings. “It’s a quick way to break up a white page, and I love the block color it adds,” she says. She also loves uneven edges. “Enjoy playing with proportions and don’t get too precious,” she advises. “Mistakes add character.”
