New Year's eve saw people sending a total of whopping 63 billion WhatsApp messages, according to Facebook, which owns the mobile messaging service. Of the total, nearly 14 billion messages were sent in India alone. While images constituted around 8 billion messages, nearly 2.5 billion WhatsApp messages were videos, a WhatsApp spokesperson revealed. The 63 billion figure assumes significance given that back in April 2016 it was revealed that both Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp combined were sending 60 billion messages each day.
