Becoming a Global Citizen with Heather Bermudez

Here is the simple advice 22-year-old Heather Bermudez (@heatherbermudez) offers anyone who wants to become a more active global citizen: “Ask yourself, ‘How can I give back to others while still having fun?’” The University of Toronto student discovered her passion for education and sustainability during volunteer teaching trips to Costa Rica and South Africa. Around the globe and at home, Heather shares photos of nature’s beauty. “Your world is bigger than your classroom or your bedroom or your small neighborhood,” she says.

This week, she’ll be attending the 2017 Winter @youth_assembly, hosted by the United Nations. “What I’m really looking forward to is meeting people from other delegations around the world,” Heather says. “If you’re a student, you can feel like the world is only about working part time and studying. I love hearing other people’s experiences.”
