Gearing Up for the Grammys with Anderson .Paak

The night before the Grammy Awards (@recordingacademy) nominations were announced, Anderson .Paak (@anderson._paak) went to bed feeling like it could be Christmas. “You know when you have that little feeling in your stomach?” asks Anderson, who was nominated for two awards — Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best New Artist. He awoke to the news and linked up for a sushi and sake celebration with his guitar player and best friend Jose Rios. “We’re just looking at each other like, this is crazy man,” says the 31-year-old artist, originally from Ventura, California. “We didn’t really know what to say.” This year, Anderson and his band, The Free Nationals, are working on a new album and heading on tour with Bruno Mars starting in March.
Anderson enjoys meeting new people and trying new food on the road, but the hardest part is being apart from his family, including his 6-year-old son. When Anderson explained what happens at the Grammys, his son couldn’t stop asking if his dad would win a trophy. “So,” laughs Anderson, “hopefully we’ll get a trophy.”
