A Mother’s Inspiration Transforms Into Her Children’s Family Business, Fivefork Farms
This feature is part of #MadeToCreate, a series highlighting our community of entrepreneurs, makers and artisans on Instagram.
“Growing up, my mom always had this monster flower garden,” says Grace Lam. She and her four siblings own Fivefork Farms (@fiveforkfarms), a fresh-cut flower farm, inspired by their mother’s passion for planting. In 2012, after years of working in finance, Grace was ready for something new and a 38-acre (15-hectare) property in Upton, Massachusetts, provided the perfect opportunity for change.
Running a family farm is a lot of work, but everyone has a role and pitches in. “I’m not going to lie,” starts Grace, “it’s hard working with family. But at the end of the day, we’re still a family, and that’s all that matters. We can be honest and open with each other, and we get over things really fast. So, it’s sort of like the old times, just playing outside as kids.”
