When Tristan de Burgh (@tristantales) was growing up, he wanted to be a pirate-cowboy-firefighter-astronaut-detective — “or, realistically, anything that allowed me to be creative on a daily basis.” The 22-year-old Los Angeles resident has since carved himself out a role producing short videos for his own brand as well as global ones. “This type of visual storytelling didn’t exist when I was a kid,” says Tristan. “But if it had, it would’ve 100 percent been my dream job.”
Tristan began using Instagram Stories to keep his friends updated on his day-to-day life, but would add his own creative twist. “Even if I was going to the grocery store, I would try my best to craft some sort of adventure out of it,” he says. The stories evolved into Tristan’s take on “Choose Your Own Adventure,” where the viewer taps forward and backward to decide how Tristan finds his way out of various situations in and around LA. “I’m always looks for ways to make my stories more engaging,” he says, “and what better way to do that than by making the story interactive and giving the viewer complete control?”
