Now that the iPhone 8 has allegedly gone into mass production, the leaks of the assembled device (or at least dummy units of the design) are flowing pretty thick and fast. The latest is a short video, only five second long, which shows a black coloured version of the handset being rotated and displayed in a hands-on.
The device isn't shown powered on, so it may be a dummy unit of the type sent to case makers to help them build accessories, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's any less accurate.
As per previous leaks, the iPhone 8 has a rear-mounted dual-camera sensor array aligned vertically, with an LED flash module in the middle. Contrary to earlier leaks there is no circular cut-out below the Apple logo for a fingerprint scanner. It is possible that Touch ID could be in there underneath the rear panel glass, as this could be easier to implement than the apparently abandoned in-display design. However, we would be very surprised if Apple did this without at least putting some kind of dimple for the Touch ID to guide the user's finger by feel. A completely flat back may look sleek, but it would not assist this functionality very well.
A new leak on Slashleaks again shows that circular element on the rear panel in what appears to be official iPhone 8 documentation. Our only other thought on this subject is that the iPhone 8 is rumoured to have wireless charging, and perhaps this circular area houses some kind of tech that will help it charge quickly and efficiently in contact with a charging plate?
Also in-line with earlier leaks and details, the front-facing array at the top of the screen features multiple sensor cut-outs, one of which is going to be a camera, while others are rumoured as an iris scanner and a 3D laser face scanner.
