Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Rumours vs Nokia 8: Big, Bad, Dual-Camera Showdown

Paul Briden 22/08/2017 - 11:48am

How does the Nokia 8 compare to the Galaxy Note 8's rumoured specs and features?

At time of writing - August 22 - Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy Note 8 literally tomorrow, August 23, at least that's according to every rumour going. The event will take place in New York, but although the announcement will happen imminently, the phone won't hit retail until around September 15 (earlier in some places, but that's the official global rollout date).

Naturally hype levels for this handset are off the chain, as they always are with big Samsung devices. But, with that said, there's another just-released phone that has a lot of enthusiasm around it too; the Nokia 8.

Yes folks, Nokia has returned, well, kinda, it's actually part of a partnership with HMD Global; HMD makes the phones and puts Nokia's branding on them. But these are still very much purebred Nokia devices, make no mistake, they still have Carl Zeiss optics and Nokia OZO audio, and Nokia engineers still help develop the hardware and design.

The lead model is the Nokia 8 flagship, which was announced only the other week. As flagships go, Nokia has made it plenty competetive with the current cream of the crop - the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU keeps everything ticking, it has an insane Carl Zeiss dual-lens camera, oodles of RAM and storage, and a massive battery cell.

Best of all for Nokia's return to the smartphone space - it runs Android.

By this stage in the game we know most of what's worth knowing about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 thanks to the copious amount of detailed leaks from reliable tipsters, so how do the two titans of the industry compare? Let's take a look...
