The Best iPad Alternatives for 2017 – There is ANOTHER Way...

The iPad is king, but there are other good tablets out there... like these Android-powered bad boys

In the world of tablets, the iPad is king. Yes, there are plenty of other tablets out there, but the iPad owns the marketplace thanks to its diverse range, including the diminutive iPad mini to the regular consumer iPad, to the professional market with its iPad Pro.

That’s not to say that there aren’t a number of good alternative choices available, which is what this list is all about. There are a number of excellent Android tablets on the market from a range of manufacturers. For our list, there is one important omission, however.

We are not counting tablets which are hybrids–ie: those that come with a detachable keyboard. These hybrid tablets usually run full-blown Windows. For this list, we are only looking at tablet-tablets, if you will. So, without further ado, and in no particular order, these are five of 2017’s best iPad alternatives available right now.

Samsung Galaxy TAB Surface 3

This tablet comes to us from Android smartphone market leader Samsung. The Samsung Galaxy TAB Surface 3 features a 9.7in screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. Inside you’ll find eight 2.15 GHz Qualcomm processors, with 4GB of RAM, and a 32GB hard drive.

But unlike the iPad, the TAB features a microSD card slot that can take up to another 256GB of storage, which means this tablet has potentially more storage capacity than any iPad currently on the market.

However, at around £575, it’s one of the most expensive tablets on this list.

ASUS ZenPad 3S

The ASUS ZenPad 3S is an excellent choice of Android tablet. It features a 9.7in screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. Inside you’ll find a MediaTek MT8176 Turbo Dual CA72 dual core processor, with 4GB of RAM, and a 32GB hard drive.

Like the Samsung Galaxy TAB Surface 3, the ZenPad features a microSD card slot that can take up to another 256GB of storage, which means it too has potentially more storage capacity than any iPad currently on the market.

And the best thing about the ASUS ZenPad? It’s price. It’s a deal at only £299.

Google Pixel C

For those that love Google’s brand, might we suggest their tablet? The Google Pixel C is an amazing device featuring a 10.2in display with a resolution of 2560x1800. Inside you’ll find a NVIDIA TEGRA X1 with 3GB of RAM, and a 64GB hard drive.

However, unlike the ZenPad and TAB, the Google Pixel C does NOT offer expandable storage–so you’re stuck with 64GB no matter if you need more.

However, Google hopes that most of Pixel C users will be using its online Drive storage, so that shouldn’t be a problem for many already in Google’s ecosystem.

The Google Pixel C will currently cost you £533.

Amazon Fire HD 10

Amazon actually has two tablets on this list. The first is the Fire HD 10 tablet. It features a 10.1in screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800. Inside you’ll find two 1.5 GHz MediaTek Quad-Core processors, with 1GB of RAM, and either 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of storage.

However, the Fire HD 10 also features a microSD card slot that can take up to another 200GB of storage. Looking at the display and RAM specs, you might think the Fire HD 10 is under-spec’d compared to other tablets on this list–and you’d be right.

But Amazon is designing the Fire HD 10 for those people that want a budget tablet for light internet and gaming.

In return, you get a relatively low-cost entry point: only £179.

Amazon Fire HD 8

The final tablet on this list is another Amazon one: the Amazon Fire HD 8. This is a great tablet for those who like the small form factor of the iPad mini, but not the price. It features an 8in screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800.

Inside you’ll find a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor, with 1.5 GB of RAM, and either 16GB or 32GB of storage.

However, the Fire HD 8 also features a microSD card slot that can take up to another 256GB of storage.

You can pick one up via Amazon for a very decent price
