Not long now, Pixel lovers! The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will get official next week – October 4 – following months and months of specs, leaks, and speculation.
The handsets, which will do battle with Apple’s new iPhones and Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 inside Q4, will be made by LG and HTC and are likely to be quite a bit different to what came before.
One of the handsets, for instance, will feature a squeezable chassis, which you can use to activate Google Assistant, even when the phone isn’t active. The Pixel XL 2 is said to be based on the LG V30, while the Google Pixel 2 will likely be more like the HTC U11, though potentially a bit smaller.
You can read EVERYTHING currently known about the handsets in our Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL primer. Beyond the new phones, though, what else can we expect from Google? Quite a bit as it goes with potential new releases across a variety of product lines, which include…
A New Google Home – Either The Mini or Max
There have been TONS of rumors about Google expanding its Google Home product line. The most recent of which include details of a Google Home Mini and a larger, more premium Google Home Max.
Q4 is one of the busiest periods for sales of consumer electronics because of Christmas, so it stands to reason that if Google does have new Google Home products, it would want to get them launched and available to buy at some point during Q4.
October 4 seems like the perfect launch platform for doing this, as there is nothing else in Google’s calendar between now and Christmas that we’re aware of…
Google Assistant Headphones
Bose recently unveiled its brand new QC35 II with Google Assistant built in. Prior to launch, I thought Google might save these bad boys for its Pixel 2 unveiling. But that didn’t happen.
And the reason for this could be that Google has its own pair of wireless Google Assistant headphones ready to launch. Multiple sources are now claiming Google will unveil a pair of Google Assistant headphones on October 4.
The PixelBook – AKA The New ChromeBook Pixel
The ChromeBook Pixel is dead. But Google still has aspirations of cracking the laptop space with a premium offering in 2017/18, according to reports.
The PixelBook is a new hybrid laptop system that, like Microsoft’s Surface Pro, doubles as both a powerhouse laptop and high-end tablet. It is said to feature massive specs and also a stylus. The PixelBook will run on Google’s ChromeOS.
