Last night, Google unleashed two brand new Pixel phones – the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL – alongside a set of wireless earbuds and a new Chromebook, the PixelBook.
The launch was big, to say the least, but one of the coolest things Google launched was a new Google Home device, dubbed Google Home Mini.
This device, as the name suggests, is a smaller version of the company’s existing Google Home unit. The Google Home Mini is smaller, costs just £49, and features all the key attributes of its bigger sibling.
The pebble-shaped Google Home Mini is, like Chromecast, powered by a single microUSB port. But do not be put off by its cute exterior; this device can do everything its larger, more expensive sibling can – save for playing music really loud.
Google Home Mini Design
It’s small, compact, and covered in an attractive fabric surface. The Google Home Mini is available in three colour options: Chalk, Charcoal and Coral, and you can interact with it by tapping the top and sides of the device.
Beneath the fabric, you’ll found several LED lights which are there to let you know whether the Google Home Mini has heard your commands. Like Google Home, to interact with the Mini, just say, “Okay, Google”.
Google has also updated its Google Assistant software for both the Google Home and Google Home Mini. It nows features “voice match”, meaning it can distinguish between six different voices and respond accordingly. Another cool feature is the ability that lets you set-up shortcuts for vocal hotkeys for launching specific apps and services like Spotify playlists and the like.
Google Home Mini Price and Release Date
And best of all is how much the Google Home Mini costs; you can pick one up October 19 for just £49.99.
