The OnePlus Android Oreo open beta is now live, although the OnePlus 5 is nowhere in sight!

OnePlus has now begun distributing the first Open Beta OxygenOS ROM for Android Oreo on the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. Note that there is currently no info on OnePlus 5 Open Beta support, at present it is not supported and OnePlus has not said when we can expect to see it integrated into the beta program.

On the OnePlus 3, the build is the Android 8.0.0 Oreo ROM Open Beta 25, while on the OnePlus 3T it's Android 8.0.0 Oreo ROM Open Beta 16. OnePlus has uploaded the built to its OTA servers, which means users who are already running an OpenBeta build on either phone should now be getting a prompt to download and install the software update. If you're just running regular OxygenOS, you'll need to opt into the open beta program via OnePlus' website and go through the setup process.

Here's the official changelog for the beta build:

System changes

  • Update to Android O (8.0)
  • Added Picture in Picture
  • Added Auto-flil
  • Added Smart text selection
  • New Quick Settings design
  • September security patch

Launcher changes

  • Added Notification dots in Launcher
  • Added OnePlus account login for access to Shot on OnePlus
  • Now able to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus through wallpapers

Known issues:

  • Fingerprint actions may be slower than you are used to.
  • Shortcut to access Google Photos is unavailable
  • Some stability issues with NFC and bluetooth
  • Performance and compatibility of 3rd party apps will continue to be optimized
