The OnePlus 5T was on the cards for a short period of time, however, it has now been cancelled, according to multiple reports, and now all the emphasis is on the incoming OnePlus 6.
The OnePlus 6 will be the first OnePlus handset from the company to feature a QHD panel. It will also be one of these super fashionable all-encompassing displays like the ones used by Samsung, LG, and Apple’s incoming iPhone X.
This also means a new design and, because the panel is likely going to be 6inches, the overall shape and gait of the handset will be larger though, potentially, not by much, providing the display is an edge-to-edge display.
It’ll also apparently run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 CPU, which is expected to launch in December. I’m out with Qualcomm for something in Hawaii on December 4, so this is likely to be the first preview of the 845 CPU before it's released inside phones during Q1.
With RAM, you’re looking at SPADES of the stuff – rumours suggest either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. With storage, the phone will ship in either 64GB or 128GB flavours, which is expected – OnePlus has always been decent in this regard.
As for a release date, word on the streets suggests the handset might just launch a bit earlier than usual. When exactly? No one is entirely sure, but there is a slight change OnePlus could land in either late-Q1/early-Q2.
It’ll be joined by the Samsung Galaxy S9, the new LG G7, a new HTC phone, and the iPhone X, Google Pixel 2, Google Pixel 2 XL, and the best of the rest – so with this in mind, an early release does make quite a bit of sense.
There’s no word on price yet, though OnePlus has tacked up the price of its handsets gradually over the years, and given the rumoured the specs of the OnePlus 6, it’s likely this will be the most expensive handset OnePlus has ever released.
