Torn Between LG V30 and Google Pixel 2 XL? Me Too…

LG V30 or Google Pixel 2 XL? LG V30 or Google Pixel 2 XL? LG V30 or Google Pixel 2 XL? I just CANNOT decide…

I thought I had it figured out, I thought I knew what I’d be upgrading to in 2017, but now I am REALLY conflicted – do I go with the Pixel 2 XL or the LG V30?

I’ve been using the Pixel XL for 12 months, in between a few test handsets, and on the whole, I’ve had a great time with the phone. The camera is brilliant and so too is the overall performance, battery life, and software.

And for the longest time, I was pretty much convinced that’d I would pick up the Pixel 2 XL as soon as it became available. But then I saw the LG V30 and, well… things changed.

What makes this predicament odder is that LG actually made the Pixel 2 XL as well. Being on the fence isn’t a new thing for me, there’s always too many options when it comes to upgrading your Android phone.

But right now I am torn between these two handsets. Why torn? Well, I like using Google-made phones because I prefer the software and I like fast updates and minimal bloatware on my phones. This is why I have always used Nexus phones and, after that, Pixel ones.

But the LG V30 is soooooooooooo tempting. I mean, it has an HD DAC (specifically MQA file decoding) for brilliant audio built into it, a thing that, for some reason, is still sadly missing on all too many phones these days.

The V30 also supports headphone jacks too.

Beyond this, the V30 rocks a brilliant new camera setup that packs in a dual-lens camera that features OIS combined with a wide f/1.6 aperture and a 120º field of view, as well as a whole host of software features.

I also love the way the V30 looks.

But then, I really like what Google has done with the Pixel 2 XL. I like the design, I love the software, and I cannot wait to have a go with its new camera setup.

I am kind of peeved that it lacks a headphone jack, though I am confident I could, at a push, get around this issue – most likely with a pair of Pixel Buds, though these are PRICEY.

As it stands right now, I am kind of leaning more towards the Pixel 2 XL, simply because I am so used to running pure Google devices. The headphone jack thing does bother me quite a bit personally, mostly because I use it in my car, but given where things are going, this appears to be the norm, so I might as well get used to it.

One phone I know I 100% won’t be buying, however, is Apple’s iPhone 8, though I will admit I am rather intrigued by the iPhone X.

Given the choice what would you get? Google’s Pixel 2 XL or LG’s V30?
