For the past two years, photojournalist Nora Lorek (@noralorek) worked in the refugee camp in Calais, France, known as “the Jungle.” “I was there six times, and living there for more than two months, collecting stories of the many young men that had escaped war in hope of getting reunited with family and friends in the UK or just to start a new life,” says Nora, who has dual citizenship from Sweden and Germany. Her most recent work for National Geographic, which she is being honored for, continues to document the refugee experience.

Nora is a Getty Images (@gettyimages) Instagram Grant honorable mention recipient. The grant supports photographers who use Instagram to document stories from underrepresented communities around the world.
