Honor V10 Officially Launches In China - Coming To Europe December 5

The Honor V10 has now officially launched with a massive display and dual-sensor camera

We knew it was coming, and now the Honor V10 is official; the handset was unwrapped on November 28 at a dedicated event in parent firm Huawei's home region of China. We also know it'll get a launch in Europe on December 5, with an event in London that we'll be attending, hopefully with a bit of hands-on action.

Anyway, as per usual these days, the accurate probes of the rumour mill have left very little in terms of surprises...well, none really, things are pretty much as we saw in earlier leaks.

Which is great, because that means we're looking at what essentially boils down to a cheaper take on the Huwaei Mate 10, though not one that compromises when it comes to t processor spec, which is the same HiSilicon Kirin 970 hardware as the more premium model from Huawei's main brand. There are both 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM options available, with the former being cheaper.

The Honor V10 has a 5.99in touch display, although it is LCD rather than the Mate 10's AMOLED, but it does have the same trendy 18:9 wide aspect ratio and 2160x1080p Full HD resolution. In an interesting twist, Huawei has managed to squeeze the fingerprint scanner Home key onto the front bottom bezel - in the traditional place - rather than doing  what it did with the Mate 10 like every other OEM and putting it on the back.

Your storage options are 64GB or 128GB and both come with microSD support, and, unlike the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, the Honor V10 comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as the USB charging/data port. The battery is a 3,750mAh cell with fast charge support. Colour options are black, red, gold, or blue.

Unlike the Mate 10 range, however, the Honor V10 doesn't use a Lecia-branded camera, but it is still a dual-sensor setup. It features a 16MP colour sensor and a 20MP monochrome sensor with f/1.8 apertures but there's no optical stabilisation (OIS). On the front you're looking at a 13MP f/2.0 single sensor.

In China the 4GB RAM/64GB storage model is priced at CNY 2,700, which is around €344 or $410, while the 6GB RAM/128GB storage version costs CNY 3,000, or either  €383 or $450 at the current exchange rate.

We don't know if those prices will correlate with the pricing setup when the phone arrives in Europe (to be honest it will likely be a bit higher than the conversion prices), but assuming there's something in it we'd probably opt for the higher-tier model for the difference of about €40/$40 it seems like a steal for twice the storage and another third of the RAM.

The Honor V10 is up for pre-order in China now, but sales won't start proper until the December 5 European launch date.
