LG V30/V30+ Android Oreo Beta Rolls Out, Plus Official Bootloader Unlocking

Android Oreo is now rolling to the LG V30 and LGV30+ as a beta build

LG has begun rolling out the Android Oreo beta for the LG V30 and LG V30+, starting in its home nation of South Korea. The 1.2GB download is being pushed over-the-air with the build number OPR1.170623.026.

As per all the other rival devices updating to Android Oreo, the update includes picture-in-picture and notification dots features, as well as the November Android security patch. While we haven't heard of handsets outside of Korea getting the update just yet, there's no reason to think that it won't spread very soon.

Naturally, however, being a beta build there will still be hiccups. LG reportedly plans to rollout the final stable build in December (assuming everything goes according to plan).

In the meantime, there's also news regarding the LG V30 in Europe, specifically models H930 and the Italy-only H930G. Both of these have been added to LG's list of handsets where bootloader unlocking is supported officially by the firm.

Bootloader unlocking allows advanced users to install custom ROMs onto their phones to enable all kinds of elaborate third-party features. However, although it is officially supported, doing so will still void your warranty. Plus, it also requires quite a bit of technical skill and knowledge, so don't do it unless you absolutely know what you're doing.
