The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T might be getting all the limelight right now as the latest flagship models, but they don't yet have Android Oreo and now the previous generation - the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T - have pipped them to the post.
OnePlus did its usual trick of taking to its own forum community to announce the rollout of OxygenOS 5.0 and Android 8.0 Oreo bundled together in one package; it's currently being pushed to a small group of users right now, however, OnePlus says a wider rollout will be happening over the next few days.
"We are pushing out the incremental roll-out of OxygenOS 5.0, our first official Android O OTA update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T," said the post, "As always, this OTA will be incremental. The OTA will reach a small percentage of users today, and we'll begin a broader rollout in a few days."
As well as a bunch of Android Oreo's baked-in features, the update adds a Parallel Apps feature and Picture-In-Picture, both of which should enhance the multitasking capabilities quite considerably. Autofill and Smart text selection features have also been added.
OxygenOS is still a minimalistic UI, but the Quick Settings panel has been tweaked with a new design layout, plus we're seeing Android Oreo's Notification Dots and a new App Folder design too. OnePlus has also included a number of security fixes in the software bundle.
