OnePlus has now confirmed its launch plans for the OnePlus 5T. The firm posted a teaser image on Twitter together with the tagline "Guess which city we're going to party in for the #OnePlus5Tlaunch!", confirming the name of the handset. The image, meanwhile, shows Mahattan, New York.
It's believed OnePlus will host its launch event on November 16, while prominent tipster @evleaks has said in previous Tweets that it will hit the market after November 20.
The handset is rumoured to be similar to the existing OnePlus 5 in terms of overall spec (Qualcomm Snapdragon 835), however, it will feature an improved dual-20MP sensor camera and a full edge-to-edge 18:9 6in display. It will have a slightly boosted battery rating, and potentially options for either 6GB or 8GB of RAM with either 64GB or 128GB of storage.
Personally, I am of the view that OnePlus continuing the "T" iterative range is a bad idea, at least as it has done it so far within months of the launch of the regular OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 5 respectively. The new phone smell can barely have faded from the OnePlus 5 and already a new iterative update is going to hit the market; if I'd bought a OnePlus 5 I would be annoyed.
I can basically see things going one of two ways, either consumers get annoyed with OnePlus and stop buying its phones altogether, or they get into the habit of holding fire on the solid number models and instead wait for the "T" edition with the updated specs a few months down the line.
