The Razer Phone will reportedly be getting an update in the next few weeks which will improve the handset's camera performance, as well as making enhancements to the camera app itself. The word comes straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak, via a post made on Facebook by Razer CEO Min-Lian Tang.
Some reviews have noted the camera performance isn't quite as hot as expected, and it seems that a lot of these issues are software related. Thus, Razer's top brass has announced a forthcoming update intended to give everything a good ol' tweak.
The firm's chief exec said to first expect the camera app to recieve a pushed update via Google Play "in the near term", ie: soon; this will apparently give the camera a noticable performance boost. After that, the firm intends to push further updates designed to improve shutter speed, low-light performance, and overall optimisation.
It's implied the camer app itself could see quite a few successive updated via Google Play, so expect plenty of repeated notifications about the app updating itself (or prompting you to update, if you don't have auto-updates on).
But the plans don't end there. Later the company intends to release a major camera app update with new UI features - an Instazoom button designed to quickly leverage the telephoto lens and generally enhance zoom performance. While it's not guaranteed, Min-Lian Tang also said it was "very likely" the firm would add 4x slow-motion video capture.
Additionally, when Android Oreo drops on the Razer Phone, expect to see a portrait mode appearing, alongside 60fps video recording.
