The Best Messenger Bags for iPads and Tablets

These are the top bags for your gadgets!

When Apple debuted the original iPad in 2010 it was nothing much more than a big, oversized iPhone. Yet still people bought it in droves and it kicked on the tablet marketplace, which saw every other tech company get into the game. But after a few years, tablet sales started to slow. Part of that was due to the fact that smartphone screens began to get larger and people discovered they didn’t need a 6-inch device and a 9-inch device that do the same thing. But in recent years, people have returned to tablets again–just not as a device of its own.

Many people are buying tablets today as laptop replacements. Apple has certainly recognized this, turning the iPad into a multitasking beast thanks to iOS 11 and of course through its iPad Pro lineup, which now has three sizes of displays. Of course, if you’re ditching your laptop for a tablet you’ll need a bag to carry it around in. That’s why we’ve scoured the net to find the best messenger bags for iPads and other tablets. Here are our top choices.

Field Muzetto

Without a doubt, the single best messenger bag I’ve ever used is the Field Muzetto by WaterField. I’ve been using the small model, which measures 10.5 x 9 x 1.5 inches and is a perfect fit for any iPad smaller than 10.5in. The craftsmanship and quality of design of the Muzetta cannot be understated.

It both looks cool and is highly functional with a padded device compartment, and interior zippered pocket, and a plush front pocket. My 9.7in iPad with a thick keyboard cover-case fit easily inside the device compartment and there was plenty of room left over for my Moleskine journal, some guidebooks, and a battery pack I carry around. If you get only one messenger bag, make it this one. You can buy the Field Muzetta from $169.

Everki Venue Premium Mini

Another great choice of messenger bag is the Everki Venue Premium Mini. The Venue will hold tablets up to 12.1in and features a plethora of pockets to store all the little accessories that go along with tablets today, such as a stylus, earbuds, pens, a calculator, notepad and even a designated hook for your keys.

The soft, high contrast orange felt in the interior looks both nice and acts as a shock absorber if your bag takes a beating. A unique feature of the Venue is its RFID protection. The Venue has a pocket that is impervious to RFID which is meant to store your wallet, credit cards, and passport so identity thieves can’t quickly scan your information on a crowded subway. The Everki Venue Premium Mini costs £105 on Amazon.

i-stay 10.1in Launch

Admittedly, the first two messenger bags on this list are a bit pricey (but worth it). If you’re looking for more low-cost options, the next three will certainly fit the bill.

The i-stay Launch is a great messenger bag that comes in red, purple, or black and features multiple interior padded pockets and a non-slip replacement bag strap which has been recommended by the College of Chiropractors, no less. It’s made of a durable water-resistant nylon and will fit devices with up to 10.1in screens. You can pick one up on Amazon for just £27.50.

CoolBell Shoulder Messenger Bag

The CoolBell is a multi-functional Neoprene messenger bag that comes in black, army green, or teal.

The water-resistant bag fit tablets up to 9.7in and features multiple anti-shock foam pockets, some with velcro or zippers so your smaller items don’t slip out even if you turn the bag upside down. The adjustable strap and light weight of the bag round out its features. You can pick one up on Amazon for only £18.99.

Bipra 10.2 Netbook Messenger Bag

There are low-cost bags and then there is the Bipra, which hardly costs more than two coffees from Starbucks. The Bipra is your entry-level messenger bag that gets the job done–just perhaps not as stylishly as the others on this list.

The bag is designed for devices up to 10.2in screens and features a “Power Pocket” designed for bulky power cords and accessory storage pockets for USB accessories, portable mice or styli. It’s made of Nylon and at only £9.99 on Amazon, you really can’t go wrong for the price.
