Apple is bringing the iPhone X design to ALL its iPhone releases in 2018, according to reports

The iPhone X has been a massive success, despite it’s gargantuan price tag of £1000. The handset features a brand new design, an OLED display, no Home button, and plenty of new bells and whistles.

Apple has already shifted MILLIONS of units of the iPhone X, but now that the dust has settled on that release, speculation about Apple’s plans for 2018 are now cropping up all over the place.

The big question, for many, however, is whether the current iPhone 8 design will survive for another year. According to a report from KGI Securities, it will not – 2017 will be the last time we see Apple’s 2014 industrial design.

In 2018, ALL iPhones will carry the same design language as the iPhone X, meaning no home button, expansive, edge-to-edge displays, and the introduction of FACE ID to all models. This is the good part. The bad part is that this will likely mean higher prices for ALL models in 2018/19.

All new iPhone models in 2018 will look like the iPhone X, but only two of the three will run OLED displays. One handset, likely the entry-level model, will keep the current LCD display, no doubt in a bid to offer a more affordable option for punters.

Furthermore, Apple’s main supplier of 3D sensing cameras, Finisar, has recently dramatically expanded its production facilities, following the acquisition of a 700,000 square foot facility in Sherman, Texas. And the reason? Simple: Apple is bringing Face ID to more iPhones in 2018/19.

This tells us that Finisar has already been briefed on Apple’s plans for 2018/19 and is now moving forward with key investments in order to meet the demand for its front-facing face scanning technology.

So what can we expect from Apple’s 2018 iPhone releases? Two iPhone X models with OLED panels and updated specs; one of which likely featuring a larger display than this year’s model, and one, smaller LCD model that will fill in for the standard, base model iPhone currently represented by the iPhone 8.

Expect A LOT more news about Apple’s plans in the coming weeks and months, as testing for 2018’s iPhones gets underway.
