Android Oreo Coming To Samsung Galaxy S8 January 2018

Samsung prepares to release the final Oreo build in late January

The official final build of Android Oreo will arrive on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in late January, according to a technical support response to a consumer query.

The word comes via a UK-based Samsung Beta community admin responding to a user question, picked up by Android Headlines, in which they confirmed the company's plans the final build should be ready by the end of January 2018. However, the admin also noted that it may be delayed until early February if any problems pop up.

Although it will require a bit more tweaking due to its extra S-Pen and multitasking functionality, as well as having dual-camera hardware, the Galaxy Note 8 should logically follow suit shortly afterwards, being largely a very similar handset in terms of overall spec and the software package onboard.

As with all such updates, this will be the build rolling out over-the-air to unlocked handsets. Those who have their Samsung Galaxy S8 series phones locked to certain carriers will have to wait for them to give the green light, which can often delay things by weeks or months on top of the official rollout day.
