ThinkGeek has confirmed that it has brand new units of the NES and SNES Classic back in stock. This is kind of big news too because the consoles have been more or less impossible to find for the past 12 months.
Yes, there are resellers and super-expensive units available on eBay and Amazon, but if you want a brand new one, that hasn’t been used, or that is being sold by a scalper, you’ll want to check out ThinkGeek like… RIGHT NOW.
Here’s the official line via ThinkGeek on how you can get one:
“We know that many of you who were hoping to get a Nintendo NES or SNES Classic Edition for the holidays were disappointed by the lack of supply. We feel you. But there’s still some time left, and we’re trying to distribute them in the fairest way we know.
“We received a shipment of NES and SNES Classics to our warehouse, and we’re holding a drawing to let you buy them without having to be at your local store the moment the truck shows up. Because ain’t nobody got time for that.
“All you have to do is sign up here, and if you’re one of those randomly selected, we’ll email you with instructions on how to buy yours.”
This promo is ONLY available in the US, however, so if you’re elsewhere you’re going to have to wait for someone else to get their hands on stock.
Why are these so hard to get hold of? God knows. You’d think Nintendo would be making them as fast as it could, but instead, the company seems to enjoy the headlines about how impossible they are to find. It’s a bit like a hardware version of Pokemon Go with these things.
If you’re interested in trying your luck, you can pick one up by following this link and filling out your details.
