Most people buy OnePlus phones because they serve up the best value for money around. This has always been the case. OnePlus undercut everybody and made a lot of friends in the process.
All this could change with the OnePlus 6, however, as rumours suggest the highest-end model, the one with 256GB of storage, could retail for $749 once it arrives.
That’s right: a OnePlus phone that almost costs $800.
There will likely be a cheaper, 128GB model. And maybe a 64GB one too. But for those that want the highest possible storage, well… you’ll have to pay for it.
The price of OnePlus phones have been sneaking up over the years, but the jump to almost $800 will almost certainly alienate a few of its core users.
Even more so if a cheaper model isn’t offered. I don’t see this happening, however, so there’s not too much to worry about in this respect.
The OnePlus 6 will feature a brand new design, a new display, potentially 8GB of RAM, and updated internals.
All signs point to a heavily updated phone. You’re looking at a handset with a 6.2in, bezel-less display that runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 CPU. Add in 8GB of RAM and you’re looking at a proper powerhouse of a phone.
But that price? It's just so much for a OnePlus. The entire brand is built on value for money, so I don't really see how this could work.
The OnePlus 6 will launch later this summer, so expect plenty of leaks and news between now and then.
