Back in late 2017 it was rumoured that Samsung would once again revive its Galaxy A series for 2018 with new Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, and Galaxy A7 handsets. However, what's happened since is the launch of the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ as a new edition of the Galaxy A7. Now it seems the same is happening for the Galaxy A5, as word has emerged of a Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ being prepped for launch.
According to SamMobile, a reliable source on Samsung's activities, the SM-A600FN and SM-A605G - which previously popped up in benchmarking databases - are in fact the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ respectively, and they're being prepared for launch in three specific markets; Europe, Russia, and the Middle East. There's no mention of whether the European release will include the UK, but often it does. Although there may be other markets which are yet to be revealed, at present it appears Samsung's home market of South Korea, as well as China, Japan, and other Asian markets could miss out, as well as the North American market (the US and Canada), Africa, Australia, and South America.
The reports say the Galaxy A6 will run Samsung's Exynos 7870 processor, which has previously been used in the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) and other affordable phones in the Samsung Galaxy J series, indicating this will not so much be a true Galaxy A5 successor (which was more of a mid-ranger) and will instead be a more budget option. It'll also have 3GB of RAM and Android Oreo with Samsung's own UI on top.
The Samsung Galaxy A6+, is a different kettle of fish, however, as it runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 with 4GB of RAM.
Pricing is still unknown right now, but it's expected to be fairly low.
