The iPhone X design era is upon us. That means no more home button, very small bezels, and lots of display. And this trend is said to be hitting iPads in 2018 too.
Throughout 2018, there have been multiple reports about Apple adopting a more “iPhone X” design language for its iPad line-up. And today, we have one of our first proper looks at what this kind of device would look like:
New iPad Pro Design
The leaked images come via Leakspinner and are said to be from a CAD drawing inside one of Apple’s Chinese factories.
As you can see, the iPad Pro is pretty much ALL display. It is also very thin too; just over 5mm.
There is no home button either, which tells us the tablet will use FACE ID, just like Apple’s iPhones.
Bigger Display?
According to the images, Apple’s iPad Pro 2018 will feature a larger display too (11in versus 10.5in), while the largest iPad Pro model will go up to 13in.
Whether they’ll run OLED panels remains to be seen; most reports seem to agree that Apple will not use OLED on its tablets – the cost would be too great, apparently.
New iPad Pro Release Date?
Word on the street suggests Apple will be sending out invites to its iPad Launch very soon; the event is rumored to be taking place sometime in October.
We’re now almost mid-way through October, so this idea is starting to look a little patchy. If the new iPads are coming this month, Apple will have to send out invites very soon.
Otherwise, we could be looking at a slightly later-than-usual launch – or even possibly one inside Q1 2019.
Either way, whatever Apple launches, you can bet your bottom dollar they’ll look quite a bit different to what came before!
