One of the biggest trends we’re starting to see in 2019 is the rapid growth and iteration in cameras. The advent of multiple cameras is a huge one right now with not just a second one, but a third, or fourth. Another big trend is jumping from 12-megapixel and 16-megapixel cameras up to 48-megapixels.
Indeed, that’s a key feature in Umidigi’s latest phone, the F1 Play. Launching as an affordable Android 9 Pie device, this one delivers a ton of hardware at a budget-friendly price.
The Umidigi F1 Play is an upgraded approach to its recent F1, with notable changes in memory and camera. Both pack a 6.3-inch display with a waterdrop cutout, and each has a massive 5150mAh battery.
Whereas the F1 comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, the F1 Play bumps up the memory to 6GB, with 64GB storage space.
The F1 has a dual-camera setup of 16-megapixel and 8-megapixel while the F1 Play goes hard with the 48-megapixel and 8-megapixel configuration. Processing power comes in the form of a Helio P60 for both models.
The Umidigi F1 Play takes on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 as a wallet-friendly alternative to much pricier flagship phones. Although they both come around $200, the edge appears to go to Umi’s model.
Umidigi offers up more RAM, a larger battery, and support for more network bands. What’s more, it packs slightly higher megapixel cameras and faster charging. Perhaps most importantly, it comes in about $30 cheaper, too.
