Samsung has confirmed a new Galaxy Note device will be showcased at MWC 2013
Samsung has officially confirmed to us that a new Galaxy Note device will be debuting at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 in February.
Responding to Know Your Mobile's enquiry, Samsung’s representatives said: ‘A new addition to the GALAXY Note category will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2013. Details will be announced in the near future.’
This is most likely going to be the Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet, with a leaked roadmap and photo emerging earlier today and Samsung head of mobile JK Shin allegedly confirming the device to Korean news sources earlier in the week.
Having followed up the latter story with Samsung we can now confirm that a new Galaxy Note is very real and it will indeed be showing up in Barcelona at the end of February.
Rumours suggest the Galaxy Note 8.0 will feature an 8-inch 1280x800 pixel display giving a pixel density of around 188 pixels-per-inch. It will also have what’s referred to as ‘Super Clear Display LCD’ technology.
A 16GB storage model with microSD support has consistently been rumoured but recent reports indicate a 32GB model may also be available.
The Note 8.0 will have a 4,600mAh battery pack, a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, HSPA + 3G data capability and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with the TouchWiz UI.
If leaked photos are the real deal it should follow the Galaxy Note 2’s form factor fairly closely, although on an enlarged scale. Of course it will come with an S-Pen stylus and spec rumours suggest a 5-megapixel primary camera and a 1.3-megapixel secondary.
